Harvard Alumni for Good Governance was formed following the events at Harvard during the fall of 2023. Our aim is to bring together needed change to Harvard's governance and leadership to help steer Harvard back to its core mission as an academic institution focused on learning, open discourse, research, and teaching. If we are successful, we hope Harvard can regain the confidence and support of its currently disaffected alumni and donors.
Who We Are
We are loyal, but concerned, Harvard alumni who believe Harvard has gotten off track. We understand that the political winds of the day have recently buffeted most elite universities, but we believe Harvard has suffered many self-inflicted wounds which have exacerbated its problems and caused loyal alumni and generous donors to lose confidence in Harvard’s leadership. To restore that confidence and assure Harvard maintains its position among elite universities requires a changing of the guard and a restructuring of governance at the Harvard Corporation.
What We Hope to Do
We hope to gather enough members and put forth common sense reform proposals to convince the self-governing Harvard Corporation to implement badly needed reforms. Our efforts will include communication among our members, Op-Ed pieces and other public communications and meetings with people in a position to influence and persuade Corporation Fellows to adopt more up-to-date governing principles and more political balance.
